The Pride – by Alexi Kaye Campbell

In collaboration with The English Speaking Theatre – Oslo.

Winner of a string of awards and performed across the world, The Pride explores the gay experience  on both sides of the sexual revolution – in the emotionally repressed and hypocritical 1950s and in the hedonism and consumerism of the 21st Century.

About the play:
Alternating between 1958 and 2008, THE PRIDE is a funny, insightful and heart-breaking play about love, betrayal and the many secrets of the human heart.

The 1958 Philip is in love with Oliver, but married to Sylvia. The 2008 Oliver is addicted to sex with strangers. Sylvia loves them both.

THE PRIDE is an exploration of how the past shapes the future. And a celebration of life, friendship, and the ties that bind us.

“Marvellous, sad and blisteringly funny… a brave and rewarding drama that speaks to us all” The Guardian

“Campbell’s mature ability to grip audiences with subtly truthful disclosure is matched by his skill at construction.” Variety Weekly

“This is a searching, moving, thoroughly grown-up play, and a remarkable debut from a writer from whom I am impatient to hear more.” Daily Telegraph

“A work of subtlety and sophistication. It grabs you with its considerable intelligence and heart.” Entertainment Weekly.

About the writer:
