OSLO NYE TEATER is seeking
actor for the role of Christopher
in Joe Penhall’s BLUE/ORANGE.
Oslo Nye Teater is excited to announce auditions for the lead role of Christopher
in our upcoming production of Joe Penhall’s acclaimed play BLUE/ORANGE.
This is a powerful and demanding role that requires a dynamic and skilled actor
who can bring depth and nuance to this complex character.

Character overview
Christopher is a young Black man in his early twenties, recently detained in a psychiatric hospital. He is intelligent, articulate, and troubled, with moments that oscillate between clarity and paranoia. The character requires a strong presence and the ability to convey a wide emotional range, from vulnerability to defiance.
Requirements
- Ethnicity: Black or Afro-Caribbean heritage.
- Age Range: 27 to late 40’s.
- Sex: Male/Female
- Skills: The actor must be adept with language and capable of delivering nuanced, fast-paced dialogue. Need to be able to act in English and Norwegian.
- Experience: Previous stage experience is preferred.
- Accent: While not required, actors with the ability to convey a London accent or adapt to Christopher’s specific speech patterns will be highly considered.
Audition details
- Please prepare a monologue from the play (details provided upon application) and be ready for a cold reading.
- Callbacks, if necessary, will be held the following week.
- Sides will be provided on the day for a scene reading.
